CCPD Responds to Shot Fired Report Near DN High, No Threat Found, Police Chief Says
Crescent City Police Chief's school resources officer responded to a report of a shot fired near the pond at Del Norte High School late Tuesday morning.
After speaking with staff and canvassing the area, the officer determined there was no known threat, according to a CCPD Facebook post.
From CCPD:
Earlier today our School Resource Office received a report of a gun shot by the area of the pond at Del Norte High School. Safety protocols for the area were initiated and Officers began immediately searching the area for any threat or evidence of an actual gun shot. Our SRO was on scene in less than one minute and searching the area.
After canvassing the area and speaking with staff who were in the area, the officers determined that there was no known threat and that no further safety protocols were needed.
We are still investigating the source of the initial report and maintaining direct contact with school officials.
There is no evidence of a gun shot actually taking place at this time.
