Pacific Power customers in Crescent City, Smith River and Hiouchi will experience a six-hour power outage Wednesday evening as they do work near the Dr. Fine Bridge.

The County has been receiving questions from the community in relation to the Pacific Power planned power outage on October 6, 2021, in order to be able to answer those questions, the County has been in contact with Pacific Power representatives.

This planned outage will enable Pacific Power to perform necessary transfer work near the Dr. Fine Bridge and the outage will affect those living in Hiouchi, Smith River and Crescent City, California.

Below for your information is the telephone message that was sent to those affected by the planned outage, if you were not contacted, you do not reside in an affected area:

Subject: 10-06-2021 Planned Interruption Crescent City-Smith River, CA WO# 6581897

Hello, this is a planned interruption notification from Pacific Power. A planned power interruption scheduled for Wednesday, October 6th starting between 11:00 pm and 11:30 pm and ending at 5:00 am, Thursday morning, lasting for approximately 6 hours. The interruption will affect 2,414 customers in Crescent City and Smith River, CA. This planned interruption is necessary to transfer transmission lines to a new structure.

While we are suspending numerous planned interruptions due to weather events, this interruption is critical to preserving system reliability and safety. Our crews will take all steps possible to minimize the length of the interruption, but some of the work can only be safely performed with the service de-energized. As a precaution, please unplug any sensitive electronic equipment during the interruption. Pacific Power appreciates your patience.
