The Sporthaven Marina Bar & Grill in Brookings Harbor shuttered yesterday after serving up seafood and barbecue for nearly 25 years.
Restaurant owners Cindy and Howard Jones said goodbye to their regulars with a Customer Appreciation Celebration that was documented on the business’ Facebook page.
“Well, this is goodbye. We are officially closed! We want to thank each and every one of you for the many years of support and love that you have shown us here at Sporthaven Marina Bar & Grill!” the Joneses stated on Facebook. “We would like to thank our awesome staff for their dedication and service! A special thank you to those that came out to our Customer Appreciation Celebration, it was short notice for us all, but it was great to see those that were able to attend! Here is to you all and to a great 2020!”
It’s unclear why the restaurant suddenly closed, but according to the real estate website Loopnet.com, the property (built in 1996) is on the market for $500,000.
A real estate video of the property recorded two years ago.
The restaurant won the Oregon Coast Professional Chowder Cook-Off in 2009, 2010 and 2012, and according to its website, was named the best clam chowder spot in Southern Oregon.
