(DNACA) announces the transition of its Executive Director (ED). For the past three years, Stephanie Wenning led the organization and has now moved to Orange County to begin a career at Chapman University’s Fowler School of Law. DNACA’s Board of Directors is excited to announce the hiring of Stephanie La Torre as her successor.

Vice President Catherine Balck said, “The DNACA Board was very pleased at the number and the quality of the candidates that applied for the ED position. We conducted two rounds of interviews, and narrowed the field to two very qualified candidates. In the end, we felt that Stephanie La Torre brought a wealth of arts experience, local knowledge, and a long-term vision for ways to maintain and grow our programs. We are excited to bring her on board and feel confident that she is going to continue to administer the excellent programs that the Del Norte community has grown to love.”

La Torre most recently worked as an Account Executive at Bicoastal Media and has an extensive background in the nonprofit sector, event planning, and performing arts. In addition to her working experience, La Torre also has coursework in Theater and History from Fullerton College and a strong career as a vocalist touring the west coast; she brings to DNACA a great depth and breadth of knowledge in management as well as a variety of arts media.

"As a life-long artist myself, I'm thrilled to be working with DNACA," La Torre stated. "I appreciate the dedication of the DNACA Board of Directors and volunteers, as well as the hard work of my predecessors. I look forward to continuing their mission of providing support, excitement, and inspiration for creative arts in our community."

During the transition time between Wenning’s departure and hiring La Torre, Wenning has been working remotely as ED, keeping all programs running. A temporary, part-time Administrative Assistant has also provided regular office hours to the public and aided in a multitude of on-site tasks. La Torre officially takes the role of ED on November 9 with regular office hours of 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office is still located at 501 H St, Suite 8 in Crescent City.

Look for La Torre at upcoming DNACA events, including the 28th Juried Multimedia Show from 5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14 at the Del Norte Superior Court at 450 H St in Crescent City, as well as at the upcoming concert, California Guitar Trio, at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 16 at Crescent Elk Auditorium at 994 G St in Crescent City.
