Two Hospitalized, One With Major Injuries Following Two-Car Crash on Highway 197

Two people were hospitalized yesterday after a frightening two-car crash on Highway 197.

According to the CHP incident report, the vehicles collided north of Ruby van Deventer County Park at approximately 5:30 p.m.

The Fort Dick and Smith River Fire Departments, Calfire and the California Highway Patrol responded to the crash.

One person reportedly suffered major injuries and another suffered moderate injuries in the crash. Both patients were transported to the hospital.

Highway 197 was closed in the area for approximately two hours while crews cleared the scene.
