A Brookings man and his son, described as extremely dedicated to their work, were reported missing after they didn’t show up for work on Saturday.

Loren Farmer, 55, and his son Jason, 37, were last seen at their apartment complex on Harris Heights at about 2 p.m. Sunday, said Connie Hunter, who works with them on veterans issues in Curry County and Brookings.

Hunter told the Wild Rivers Outpost on Wednesday that she reported them missing on Monday at about 10 p.m.

“They did not show up for work on Saturday and anyone who knows these two knows that they don’t miss work,” Hunter said in a flyer she’s sent out to the community. “They are incredibly dedicated people and many of us are concerned that something could have happened to them.”

Loren Farmer is a registered nurse who worked in the U.S. Army as a combat medic, Hunter said. Loren Farmer helped roll out the COVID vaccination effort through St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in the Brookings area, while his son, Jason, administered COVID tests, according to Hunter.

“Loren and Jason, they work together as a team, father and son, in the work they do on behalf of veterans and on behalf of suicide prevention,” Hunter told the Outpost. “We are doing everything we can to facilitate the expedient location of these important community members because they are the heart and soul of much of the wonderful work that goes on on behalf of veterans.”

Anyone who has seen Loren or Jason Farmer, or their dark green Toyota Camry is asked to call the Brookings Police Department at (541) 469-3118.
