Traffic Is Moving Following Pedestrian vs. Logging Truck Collision at Chetco River Bridge in Brookings
Traffic is moving over the Chetco River Bridge after a logging truck collided with a pedestrian at about 6 a.m. Thursday.
The pedestrian is deceased, Brookings Police Chief Kelby McCrae told the Wild Rivers Outpost just before 10 a.m.
Because the collision occurred on U.S. 101 at the south end of Brookings, McCrae said his department is turning the investigation over to the Oregon State Police.
According to McCrae, all lanes over the bridge were closed following the incident to allow for scene assessment and evidence collection.
An Oregon State Police representative said traffic had resumed as of about 10 a.m.
