Allen Phillip Davis passed away peacefully August 23, 2022, in Crescent City. He was born in Arcata on October 6, 1968, to John and Rosa (McCovey) Davis. He was a proud Yurok member of the Resighini Rancheria.

Allen was “Baby Son” to his mother all his life. His mother’s fondest memory was when he was born and placed on her stomach. She looked at his blond hair and green eyes and thought, “whose kid, are you?.” Many times, Allen was the only boy surrounded by his sisters and female cousins who considered him a “brother.” His mom was always telling the girls to leave her “baby son” alone. Allen was a gifted student and loved computers.

He joined the Air Force in 1988 and was stationed at Nellis Airforce Base, where he learned cable technology. He celebrated his 21^st birthday while in Las Vegas. Being so close to Arizona he went to see the Grand Canyon. After the long drive, he was disappointed because arare weather phenomenon, “FOG,” filled the canyon. It was 3 hours before he could see the world wonder.

When Allen returned after he was honorably discharged from the Air Force, he held a variety of jobs, including serving as a Council Member for the Resighini Rancheria.

Allen was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the SF 49ers and SF Giants. He was well known as a being a “sportscaster.” His favorite phrase was, “I called it! See I called it!” He also liked going to concerts like AC/DC, Scorpions, Metallica and was notorious for his Beastie Boy impressions.

He loved bowling and was always on the local teams. Allen was a great bowler, and even considered going pro. He bowled more than one “300” game in his lifetime.

He married his wife, Julie, on October 9, 1999. He always joked that his cousin Lana forced him to get married, but it was always one of his happiest memories. Family and friends surrounded Allen, who was celebrating one of his greatest days. Allen and Julie were always there for each other and loved each other deeply.

Allen loved his family. He was always there for his kids and grandkids and was known as “Poppa.” They knew they could always call him, and he would be right there for them. In his later years, he was content being with family, talking to his dad on the phone, and watching sports.

Allen is survived by his wife Julie, his mother and father, John and Rosa. Sons; Nick and Michael Folkins, Daughters; Christie Folkins, Angela (Sergio) Alvarado, and Skylar Davis Griffin. His brothers; John Jr. (Brenda) and David Davis. His sisters; Heidi, Gina, Teri, and Starla Davis. His Grandchildren; Adriana Perez, TaimPe-wich , Chee-shep, and Amaris Folkins. Miguel and Xander Alvarado. Francisco Chavez. Valencia and Axel Ownsbey. His great grandchild Ariella Aguilar. His uncle, James McCovey. His aunts; Marilyn McCovey, Tammie Cairns, and Desma Williams. His nephews Dwayne and Ethan Davis, his nieces Myriah (Brent) LaFazio and Taylor Davis. His great nieces Marley, Raina, Payton, and Jaylee. His great nephews Abel, Nathan, and Toh-tet. His great aunts; Betty Brown, Sid Carroll, and Carmen Moon.

He was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Allen and Vada McCovey, Richie Davis, and Ray Dennison. His aunts; Betty Ann, Jackie, Vlayn and Jene McCovey. His uncles; Allen and Dwayne. His cousins Shelly-Rae and Toni.

Honorary Pallbearers are James McCovey, JR and David Davis, Nick and Michael Folkins, Thorin, Aldaron, and Edward McCovey, Dwayne Davis, Billy Watts, Loren (Long-gone) McCovey, Jim, Jack and Joe Swain, Britton Mode, Francisco Chavez, Miguel, Xander and Sergio Alvarado.

Services will be held September 10, 2022, at Resighini Rancheria at 12 p.m. Services will be catered, but feel free to bring your favorite dish or dessert.
