Sixes Man Killed in Fatal Highway 101 Crash, State Police Say


Oregon State Police Department press release:

On March 8, 2022 at about 3:32 a.m., Oregon State Police (OSP) Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a fatal single-vehicle crash on Highway 101 at milepost 294 near Sixes.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a blue Volkswagen Golf, operated by Michael Hanson, age 61, of Sixes, was traveling southbound and failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

Hanson suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

There was no road closure associated with the crash.

OSP was assisted by ODOT, Cal Ore Life Flight and Sixes Fire Department.
