Brookings Police Department press release:

In the early morning hours of Monday, July 11th, 2022, the Brooking Police Department Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call reporting an individual lying in the roadway on Hemlock Street near Fern Avenue.

Brookings police officers arrived within minutes and found a deceased 16-year old juvenile male.

The Major Crimes Team was activated and investigators from the Brookings Police Department, Curry County Sheriff's Office, Oregon State Police and Curry County District Attorney's Office along with the Oregon State Police Crime Lab responded.

The Brookings Police Department and the Major Crimes Team are actively investigating this and, at this time, do not believe there is an increased danger to our community.

Any further release of information will be done so at the sole discretion of the District Attorney's Office.
