Lemus Tells Crescent City Harbor He's Ready to Take On Redwood Harbor Village Lease
Developer Alex Lemus says his company is ready to begin operating Redwood Harbor Village RV park.
But to complete the improvements needed to open the park to visitors, current residents will need to move to adjacent Bayside RV Park, the CEO of Renewable Energy Capital told the Crescent City Harbormaster in an email Friday. That work is expected to start on Feb. 1.
Harbor commissioners are expected to discuss Lemus’s transition plan and his lease of Redwood Harbor Village on Tuesday.
“The residents’ monthly rate will not increase,” Lemus told Petrick in his email, which was included in commissioners’ agenda packet. “REC will work with the residents individually and will assist those who want or need help in moving their RV/trailers.”
Redwood Harbor Village residents will be able to pick their space at Bayside RV Park. Non-payment of rent or violations of park regulations will result in the termination of the rental offer, according to Lemus.
He said his company plans to hand-deliver a notice to every resident.
In his email, REC is waiting on the California Department of Housing and Community Development for an inspection to get a permission to operate for Redwood Harbor Village.
Lemus proposed redeveloping the port’s two RV parks in 2021 as a way of drawing more short-term visitors to the harbor. In April 2022, he promised not to raise rents or evict long-term tenants of both Bayside and Redwood Harbor Village for 12 months once his lease with the harbor takes effect.
The Crescent City Harbor Board of Commissioners meets at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Harbor District Office, 101 Citizens Dock Road in Crescent City. Participants can also access the meeting via Zoom by clicking here.
