Highway 199 Closed Between Hiouchi and Gasquet After Semi Truck Hits Power Pole, Unloads Asphalt Onto Roadway

Highway 199 between Hiouchi and Gasquet is fully closed this morning as first responders clean up the mess left over after a semi hit a power pole.

Caltrans is currently estimating that the road will be opened again at 3 p.m., though that is very much subject to change.

According to the CHP dispatch logs, the semi was hauling asphalt, which has since spilled over the roadway. Follow updates from CHP at this link.
