Public Health Providers Offer Drive-Thru COVID, Flu Shot Clinics

Local public health providers will offer free flu and COVID-19 vaccines at drive-thru clinics throughout Del Norte County.

This also includes the Pfizer booster to all eligible residents, according to a press release from the Del Norte Public Health Branch. Vaccines are available on a first-come, first-served basis. No appointment is necessary.

The clinics are being held in partnership with Del Norte Community Health Center, Yurok Tribe Public Health and United Indian Health Center.

Meanwhile, 12 COVID-19 cases were identified over the weekend, the Public Health Branch reported Monday, making for a total of 30 active cases in Del Norte County. Two people are currently hospitalized, according to the county’s COVID-19 Information Hub.

Del Norte County has seen 40 COVID-related deaths since the pandemic began in March 2020.

More than 49 percent of Del Norte County’s population is fully vaccinated against the novel coronavirus, according to the Public Health Branch. Nearly 7 percent of the population are partially vaccinated.

It is safe to take both the flu and COVID-19 vaccine at the same time. It is important to protect yourself and others from the flu and COVID-19 viruses. Although they are caused by different viruses, they share common symptoms, affect the respiratory system, are contagious, and can cause mild to severe illness.

• The vaccines will be provided on a drive-thru basis and no appointment is necessary.
• Face coverings are required for vaccination
• Vaccines will come on a first-come, first served basis
• Be sure to wear clothing that allows vaccination to your upper arm
• Only children 10 years and older who can sit still in a vehicle will be vaccinated.

• Both flu and COVID-19 vaccines available

All COVID-19 vaccines are available Monday-Saturday 9:00-6:00 pm at Sutter Coast Community Clinic behind Sutter Coast Hospital until October 30, 2021.
