McGuire Holds Wildfire Town Hall Thursday

State Sen. Mike McGuire will hold the second of two town hall meetings focusing on wildfire preparation and preparedness Thursday.

The town hall will feature input from Michael Wara, director of Stanford University's Climate and Energy Policy Institute, Calfire Sonoma, Lake and Napa Unit Chief Shana Jones and Calfire Humboldt-Del Norte Unit Chief, Kurt McCray.

According to a news release from the state senator's office, California has invested more than $1 billion this year in prevention, preparedness and response to wildfires. This includes hiring additional firefighters as well as purchasing engines, helicopters, planes and bulldozers, according to McGuire's office.

There have been more firebreaks created, removal of millions of dead and dying trees and thousands of acres cleared.

The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. To view the live broadcast, click here, or listen by dialing 1-699-900-6833 and enter webinar ID 998 5730 1244.
