Del Norte COVID-19 Update: Twelve New Cases Reported Monday

Twelve new COVID-19 cases were reported to the Public Health Branch on Monday, making for a total of 43 active cases in Del Norte County.

There is no one in the hospital currently, according to the Public Health Branch.

One new case has been identified among Del Norte County’s incarcerated population, according to the Public Health Branch.

At Pelican Bay State Prison, one inmate has tested positive for the novel coronavirus, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. A total of 200 incarcerated individuals have had COVID-19 since the pandemic began last year.

Since the pandemic began, Del Norte County has seen 1,138 COVID-19 cases with 26 hospitalizations and five deaths, according to the Public Health Branch.

Del Norte County is currently in the Red Tier on California’s four-tiered Blueprint for a Safer Economy. The Red Tier indicates a substantial risk of infection from COVID-19 and is the second most restrictive tier behind the Purple Tier.
