HAPPY REOPENING DAY: Oregon Officially Lifts Most COVID-19 Restrictions

Masks and social distancing are no longer required in most places throughout the state of Oregon.

The executive “recovery” order signed by Gov. Kate Brown on June 25 to lift all remaining COVID-19 health and safety restrictions goes into effect today.

The executive order no longer requires businesses to uphold mask or social distancing policies and removes all social gatherings restrictions.

“I’m proud of our collective efforts to vaccinate more than 2.3 million Oregonians. It is because of this success that we can move Oregon forward, and into the next chapter of this pandemic,” Governor Brown said on June 25. “We are ready.” 

With restrictions lifted, the state says it will shift focus to helping Oregonians recover from the economic impacts of COVID-19. The recovery order 

“Brighter days are ahead,” Brown said. “And, we are more determined than ever to make sure we ground our state in a strong recovery that reaches every single Oregonian as we turn a page on this chapter of the pandemic. Our work is not done, but we can all take a moment to celebrate that by next week, we will be moving forward together.”

The Oregonian reported yesterday that 41.6 percent of Curry County residents are fully vaccinated, with 47.9 percent of Curry residents having received at least one dose. 

Masks and physical distancing are still required in airports, on public transit and in health care settings. Curry County has recorded 741 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic.
