Del Norte COVID-19 Update: Fourth Resident Dies Of COVID

A fourth Del Norte County resident has died from problems related to COVID-19, the Public Health Branch reported Thursday.

That person died at Sutter Coast Hospital earlier this week, according to a news release from the Public Health Branch.

Meanwhile, five new COVID-19 cases were reported to the Public Health Branch on Thursday, making for a total of 28 active cases in Del Norte County. One person is currently in the hospital, according to Public Health.

Three new cases were also identified among the county’s incarcerated population, according to the county’s COVID-19 Information Hub.

At Pelican Bay State Prison, there are currently six inmates that are positive with COVID-19, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s COVID-19 Patient Tracker.

There have been a total of 193 coronavirus cases among Del Norte’s incarcerated population since the pandemic started, according to the Public Health Branch.

There have been a total of 919 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Del Norte County since the pandemic started last March.
