Crescent City Man Arrested for Attempted Murder for Allegedly Striking a Pedestrian With His Car; Police Cite Personal Vendetta as Cause
A 23-year-old man from Crescent City was booked on hit-and-run and attempted murder charges on Monday for intentionally hitting a man with his car, the Crescent City Police Department says.
CCPD Chief Richard Griffin told the Outpost that suspect Jonathon James Michael Amos struck the victim with his ‘90s model Mazda 323 at the Chevron Station at 315 Highway 101 in Crescent City at approximately 1:17 p.m. on Sunday before fleeing the scene.
Griffin said the hit-and-run is believed to be the result of a personal feud between Amos and the victim, a 32-year-old man from Crescent City. However, the victim has reportedly been somewhat uncooperative with investigators.
“Witnesses saw the subject actually go over the hood of the car and said the guy looked angry as he drove off,” Griffin said.
The victim was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital in Crescent City where he was determined to be in stable condition.
CCPD is actively reviewing the gas station’s security camera footage for evidence.
Amos is being held on $250,000 bail.
