BREAKING: Gasquet Residents Can Return Home; U.S. 199 Closed at Pioneer Road; Hiouchi, Big Flat Communities On Level 1 Evacuation Status
From the Del Norte Office of Emergency Services:
The evacuation order for the community of Gasquet has been lifted as of Thursday September 10, 2020 at 11:30 AM. Gasquet will be on a level 2 evacuation order meaning everyone in that community should be ready to evacuate again at a moment's notice. Gasquet will be open to residents only and U.S. Highway 199 will be closed at Pioneer Road.
The communities of Hiouchi and Big Flat will remain on a level 1 evacuation and should also be ready to evacuate if needed.
Firefighting personnel and aircraft resources are stretched thin due to the large number of fires burning in the region but we are working with the State of California and the Federal Government to bring more of these resources to our area.
