Holiday Weekend Brings 14 New COVID-19 Cases to Del Norte County; 37 Patients Have Tested Positive


Public health officials identified 14 new COVID-19 cases in Del Norte County over the holiday weekend.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases to 37, according to the Public Health Branch.

Seven have completed their isolation period and are considered recovered, the Del Norte Office of Emergency Services posted on Facebook on Monday. Officials are currently monitoring and investigating a total of 30 active cases, all of whom are recovering at home.

No one has been hospitalized, according to OES.

The positive cases include one employee at Pelican Bay State Prison, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.

Of the total 921 COVID-19 tests administered in Del Norte County as of 1:45 p.m. Monday, 69 are still pending and 815 have come up negative, according to the Public Health Branch.

Del Norte County Public Health Officer Dr. Warren Rehwaldt is expected to give an update on the local COVID-19 response to the Board of Supervisors at 10:30 a.m. today. To participate in the meeting via Zoom or You Tube, click here.
