The Yurok Tribe on Friday announced the candidates who will run in Tribal Council elections in October.

Incumbent Edward "Horse" Aubrey will run against Jack Mattz and Phillip L. Williams for the North District seat, according to a tribal news release.

David L. Gensaw Sr. will challenge Ryan Ray for to represent the Requa District, according to the news release.

For the Weitchpec District, Jewel Frank, Lucinda "Inday" Myers, and Eugene "Gino" O'Rourke are challenging incumbent Toby Vanlandingham, according to the tribe's release.

Primary elections for Tribal Council will be held Oct. 14. Tribal Members who will be 18 years old by election day must register to vote by Aug. 31 to participate in the election.
