Man Arrested for Burglarizing Brookings Harbor Veterinarian Clinic and Hungry Clam Restaurant

Monday January 6, 2020 the Curry County Sheriff’s Office received information through investigative leads regarding the possible location of stolen property from a burglary of the Brookings Harbor Veterinarian Clinic reported on November 4, 2019.
The value of the property and damage caused was in excess of $5,000.00. With the information gathered, a Curry County Sheriff’s Detective applied for a search warrant for a vehicle registered to 34-year-old Daniel Richardson and a residence where the vehicle was located in the Ophir area. The search warrant was granted by a Curry County Circuit Court Judge.
At about 8 p.m., the search warrant was served by the Sheriff’s Detective and Deputies. Numerous items that had been stolen from the Brookings Harbor Veterinarian Clinic were recovered from the vehicle and residence.
During the search Deputies also located a few items of stolen property from a different burglary that occurred during the same time frame at the Hungry Clam on Lower Harbor Road. At the time that burglary was reported, the value of items taken from the Hungry Clam was about $7,000.
At about 10:45 p.m., Deputies and Detective assisted by an Oregon State Trooper contacted Daniel Richardson at a residence on Foxgolve Way in Brookings and arrested him for Burglary 2nd Degree x 2 and Theft I by Receiving. Richardson was transported to the Curry County Jail and lodged on those charges.
The Curry County Sheriff’s Office will continue the investigation and information will be shared with the Brookings Police Department and the Oregon State Police for possible association of other burglaries that happened during the same time frame in the south county.
Information was filed with the Curry County District Attorney’s Office and an additional charge of Aggravated Theft will be charged.
