FDFD immediately requested aid from Pelican Bay State Prison FD & Crescent City Fire & Rescue. The first unit at scene reported a well-involved structure threatening a nearby structure. Quick work by the first engine at scene prevented spread to the second structure & a coordinated attack involving all agencies at scene knocked down the initial fire and contained it to a double-wide manufactured home, shed, and car.

Six occupants escaped the fire uninjured. Unfortunately, two dogs perished in the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Many thanks to the neighbors of the individuals who lost their home. All folks in the area were accommodating & helpful - great to see neighbors helping neighbors during a tough time.

Fort Dick Fire Dept. would like to thank PBSP, Crescent City Fire & Rescue, Pacific Power & Light, the California Highway Patrol, and the Del Norte Sheriffs Office for their help. All responders at scene worked together to make sure that no additional homes burned and to ensure that there were no injuries at scene.
