The California Highway Patrol is investigating a head-on collision that occurred near mile-post marker 8.9 on U.S. 199 at about 6:46 a.m. Monday.

According to CHP Officer Brandy Gonzalez, one party went was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital with major, but not critical, injuries. The other party complained of pain and minor injuries, she said.

Gonzalez said officers are still investigating why one party crossed over the double-yellow line and struck the other vehicle.
Gasquet Fire and Rescue, the Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office, Del Norte Ambulance and Crescent City Police Department also assisted, according to Gasquet Fire and Rescue’s Facebook page.
