CCPD Make Second Internet Crimes Against Taskforce-Related Arrest This Week; Suspect Accused Of Sending Child Porn Using Snapchat

A tip from the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce led Crescent City police to 22-year-old Dylan Carter on Friday.

Officers arrested Carter at his home on the 1400 block of Gainard Street at about noon while serving a search warrant. During an interview, the suspect allegedly admitted to sending child pornography using the SnapChat app, Crescent City Police Chief Richard Griffin told the Wild Rivers Outpost.

“We seized eight phones and a laptop and we’re going to be searching for further forensic evidence,” Griffin said.

Griffin said his officers are still looking into where Carter acquired the images they found. SnapChat only reported two images to ICAC, he said. This warrant was executed by CCPD Sgt. Alex Pearson an several other officers, Griffin said.

Carter was booked into the Del Norte County Jail where he’s being held on $10,000 bond.

This is the second arrest CCPD officers made this week after receiving a tip from ICAC. On Monday officers arrested Roberto Landeros after a search warrant of his home, subscriber information and internet provider addresses netted more than 100 child pornographic images.

According to Griffin, officers have since discovered 250 gigabytes of images and video connected with Landeros’s case.
