DNSO Corrections Officers Successfully Revive Unresponsive Inmates

From the Del Norte County Sheriff's Office:

On August 1, 2024 Del Norte County Sheriff's Correctional Officer J. Hayden was conducting a routine safety check through the Jail when he discovered an inmate who was unresponsive and in cardiac arrest. He began CPR on the inmate and called for assistance from medical staff and Correction Sergeant M. McIntire.

A combined effort took place, providing CPR and the use of the AED machine to revive the inmate. Over a period of 8 to 10 minutes DNSO Correctional Staff provided life saving measures and were able to regain a pulse on the inmate. Del Norte Ambulance arrived and transported the inmate to Sutter Coast Hospital for further care.

On August 10, 2024 Del Norte County Sheriff's Correctional Officer S. Johnson was conducting a routine safety check through out the jail when he discovered two inmates unresponsive. He called for back up from Correctional Officer A. Garcia and Medical staff. Officers Johnson and Garcia began CPR on the inmates.

Life saving measures were provided by DNSO staff for approximately 5 minutes and were able to regain a pulse on both inmates. Del Norte Ambulance arrived on scene and transported the inmates to Sutter Coast Hospital for further care.

Due to quick action by our Correctional and Medical Staff three lives were saved. We would like to extend a huge thank you to Correctional Officers Hayden, McIntire, Johnson and Garcia as well as our Medical staff!
