Humane Society of Del Norte Brings Spay-Neuter Clinic to Klamath This Weekend

After a handful of complaints prompted their veterinarian to take a break, the Del Norte Humane Society will be offering a spay-neuter clinic to cats in Klamath this weekend.

There’s still time for people to register their pets for the clinic that will be held Saturday and Sunday, Humane Society President Danielle Larsen-Wheeler told the Wild Rivers Outpost. People should register their pets at www.pub.vet.

“There is financial assistance available, I believe that’s on the website too,” she said. “And if they have any trouble they can call the Humane Society. Hopefully we have a good turnout and get lots of critters fixed.”

Public Vet veterinarian Dr. Aria Armendariz will perform the surgeries. Armendariz has a California license to practice veterinary medicine and the Humane Society has contracted with her to conduct its spay-neuter clinics this year.

The clinics are being made available through a three-year $385,200 California For All Animals grant to the Humane Society. Funded through the state’s fiscal 2020-21 budget, the grant is filtered through the U.C. Davis Koret Shelter Medicine Program.

The clinic will be at the Yurok Tribal Office in Klamath. The cost of the surgery is $90, which includes a medical exam and access to the surgeon by phone for three days after the procedure.  Other services, including deworming, ear mite treatment, microchipping and one-year rabies vaccines, are also available.
