DNSO Releases Name of 19-year-old Woman Killed In May Fatal Collision on May 31


The Del Norte County Sheriff’s Office on Friday released the name of a 19-year-old woman who died of injuries related to a car crash on May 31.

Kirsten King failed to yield to a 2022 Kenworth driven by a 56-year-old Crescent City man while turning from Kristian Lane to U.S. 101 near Fort Dick, at about 3:04 p.m. May 31 according to the California Highway Patrol. According to a CHP news release, King’s vehicle faced northbound in the highway’s southbound lane and the driver of the Kenworth was unable to avoid colliding with her 2008 Mazda.

The front of the Kenworth collided with the left side of King’s vehicle, according to teh CHP.

Del Norte Ambulance transported King to Sutter Coast Hospital with major injuries. King succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

CHP is still investigating the cause of the crash.

Other agencies that assisted include Fort Dick Fire & Rescue, Caltrans and California State Parks. Robertsons Automotive and Goodfellas towed the vehicles off the scene, according to the CHP.
