Authorities have confirmed that the man who died in a solo vehicle collision in Trinidad last week was 37-year-old Jason Farmer, one of the Brookings men who had been reported missing on June 19.

Farmer’s father, 55-year-old Loren, was also found in the Toyota Camry that had rolled about 200 feet down a steep embankment on Scenic Drive north of Baker Ranch Road on June 21, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer Samantha Karges told the Wild Rivers Outpost.

Loren Farmer was taken to the hospital with major injuries, the California Highway Patrol reported last week.

Connie Hunter, who said she had worked with the Farmers on veterans' issues in Curry County, reported them missing on Monday. Hunter informed the community that the father and son hadn’t shown up for work on Saturday. They were last seen at their apartment complex on Harris Heights on June 18, Hunter told the Outpost.

On Thursday, the Brookings Police Department posted on Facebook that Loren and Jason Farmer were no longer considered missing.
According to Hunter, Loren and Jason Farmer worked with St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church on their COVID-19 outreach.
