The registration from a Toyota Camry found down a steep embankment in Trinidad on Wednesday matches the registration of a Camry belonging to two Brookings men who were reported missing on Monday, a California Highway Patrol spokesman confirmed.

CHP Officer Paul Craft told the Wild Rivers Outpost on Thursday that the identities of the two men found inside the vehicle on Wednesday have yet to be confirmed, though that information is expected to be released later this afternoon. Craft said the CHP has been working with the Brookings Police Department to determine the identities of the men found inside the Camry in Trinidad.

The crash itself, including when it may have occurred, is still under investigation, Craft said.

“Anyone who has information, maybe they saw them earlier in the day or had contact with them and could help us determine a time, we would appreciate contact at our office,” Craft told the Outpost.

Emergency personnel responded to the scene on Scenic Drive north of Baker Ranch Road in Trinidad at about 10:20 a.m. Wednesday. One man was determined to be deceased and the other was taken to the hospital with major injuries.

Meanwhile, in Brookings, a father and his son, 55-year-old Loren Farmer and 37-year-old Jason Farmer, were reported missing on Monday. According to Connie Hunter, who said she had worked with them on veterans issues in Curry County, they were last seen at their apartment complex on Harris Heights at about 2 p.m. Sunday.

Hunter said she reported them missing at about 10 p.m. Monday.
