(Updated) Debris, Trees Close 101 At Last Chance Grade; No Estimated Time of Reopening, Caltrans Says
Updated at 11:33 a.m.: U.S. 101 south of Last Chance Grade reopened at about 11:15 a.m., according to Caltrans spokesman Manny Machado.
A slide just south of Last Chance Grade, along with a large tree that’s concerning Caltrans crews, has shuttered U.S. 101 in both directions.
A tree crew is en route to the scene, but the agency doesn’t feel it’s safe to open the highway currently, Caltrans spokesman Manny Machado told the Outpost.
The highway closed at about 10 a.m. Friday. There is currently no estimated time of reopening, Machado said.
