Del Norte County Supervisor Bob Berkowitz Dies at 81

Del Norte County Supervisor Bob Berkowitz died Wednesday morning. He was 81 years old.

Berkowitz represented District 5 since 2017 and was re-elected to the post in 2020. Prior to that, he served three terms on the Del Norte County Unified School District Board of Trustees.

Berkowitz was also a prominent local businessman, much of it in radio, and is credited with bringing the first FM station to Del Norte County. He was a member of the Crescent City Rotary Club for more than three decades.

His replacement on the board of supervisors will be selected by the governor. Memorial services are pending.
