Crescent City Police officers arrested a 40-year-old man Thursday after he led them on a short pursuit on U.S. 101 to the Crescent City Harbor.

From a CCPD Facebook post:

On 1-27-2022 at about 0835 hours, CCPD Officers responded to the Safeway Parking Lot, 475 M Street, for a report of a possible vehicle theft in progress. Upon arrival Officer Valero and Officer Pearson found no evidence of a vehicle theft, but there was a report of a possibly intoxicated subject driving a vehicle out of the parking lot.
Officer Pearson located the vehicle and was able to identify the driver as Ryan Wainscott (age 40). The vehicle was also registered to Wainscott. Officer Pearson witnessed Wainscott commit several violations of the California Vehicle Code, and he was also acting erratic while driving.
Wainscott attempted to flee from Officer Pearson by driving southbound on Highway 101, eventually coming to a final stop, and surrendering in the 100 block of Starfish Way. Wainscott was taken into custody and booked into the Del Norte County jail for a violation of 2800.1 of the California Vehicle Code.
