Art Scene: Okaidja Afroso in Concert and Other Activities

Okaidja Afroso will bring music, storytelling and dance to the Wild Rivers Coast next month.

Okaidja, whose music charts a journey from his childhood in Ghana and also includes influences of international collaborations, will perform at 7 p.m. Feb. 11 at the Tolowa Event Center at Lucky 7 Casino in Smith River.

Okaidja's performance is of the Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness's 40th Anniversary Performance Series. Tickets for this and other concerts are available at DNACA's website.

Basic Composition for Improved Art & Photography
Saturday, February 12th at 1 pm, join other artists on the journey to learn more about improving your art through better composition. Cost for class is $25, and space reservation is required. The class will also include information on knowing animal behavior for improved photos. Class will be held at Crescent City Art at 1228 2nd St., Crescent City. Dueling Violins in Concert
Violinists Fritz Gearhart and Anthea Kreston perform a classical music concert featuring violin duos from the last 300 years, Saturday February 26th at 2:00 p.m., at the Rogue Playhouse, 94196 W. Linda Evans Solo Art Exhibit
DNACA’s Art in Public Places program presents a solo exhibit by award-winning artist Linda Evans, who was featured in DNACA’s 30th Annual Juried Art Exhibit. Linda paints in pastel, oil, watercolor, and mixed media and is a member of Pastel Artists of Oregon and the International Association of Pastel Societies. The exhibit is on display through March 3, 2022, at the 2nd floor mezzanine of the CEC Airport, 1650 Dale Rupert Rd, Crescent City. The exhibit can be viewed during the airport terminal’s hours: 6 a.m. - 8 p.m. weekdays, 6 a.m. - 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 6 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Sundays.
