Think your pooch has what it takes to go for the gold? Find out at the 14th Annual Coastal Canine Olympics on Saturday at Beachfront Park.

This annual fundraiser for the Humane Society of Del Norte is for dogs of all skill sets and two-legged pets of all ages.

There’ll be a costume contest, best trick contest, a meatball race, Musical Buckets, Doggie Dash, Clean Your Plate and an agility course.
Signups are at 10 a.m. Admission is $10 for one dog and handler. Spectators are $5 and children under 12 are $2.

Camp Barry, the Humane Society’s puppy foster, will have a booth selling homemade jams and jellies with a portion of the proceeds going to the local animal shelters. They’ll also sell items made by dog handlers in the Prison Paws Partnership program.

The Canine Olympics is one component of an end-of-summer celebration from 1-5 p.m. at Beachfront Park and will feature a raffle supporting both the Humane Society and CASA of Del Norte.

The Crescent City Police Department will hold a K9 exhibition. Other nonprofits that will participate include the Del Norte Child Care Council with the Wonder Bus and the Northeast Marine Mammal Center.

Live music will be provided by the Del Norte High School marching and jazz bands and Tsunami Swing.
