Narcan Used to Treat Fentanyl Overdose Patient in Crescent City, Police Say

Crescent City Police Department:

On 10-2-2021 at about 9:18 p.m., Crescent City Police Department Sergeant Lopez was dispatched to Chevron South, 315 Highway 101 south, for a request to remove a subject.

When Sgt. Lopez contacted the subject, he noticed they were having difficulty breathing and they stated that they had taken “fentanyl."

Sgt. Lopez immediately radioed for an ambulance to respond and retrieved NARCAN from his patrol vehicle.

As the subject was now in an overdose state, Sgt. Lopez administered NARCAN and was then able to keep the subject alert and breathing until the ambulance crew arrived.

The subject was then transported to Sutter Coast Hospital and is currently receiving medical treatment.
