CCPD Arrest Hit and Run Suspect Following Injury Collision
Crescent City police arrested a 22-year-old man suspected of fleeing from an injury collision involving a family with children Wednesday.
From a CCPD Facebook post:
On 5-5-21 at about 1830 hours the Crescent City Police Department responded to a report of a hit and run that had occurred at the intersection of Highway 101 and Elk Valley Road. Off-Duty CCPD Sgt. Gill spotted the suspect vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Highway 101 and was able to report the location to responding officers. CCPD Officer Lo was able to catch up to and conduct a traffic stop of the suspect vehicle near the Hwy 199 interchange.
During the investigation officers established probable cause and arrested Jonathan Simpson (age 22) for Felony Hit and Run causing injury. The victims, including two adults and several children in the vehicle, transported themselves to Sutter Coast Hospital for treatment. Simpson was booked into the Del Norte County Jail for 20001 VC.
