The Del Norte County Library is offering a free bundle of books and a spotlight in its newsletter in exchange for a local artist's talents.

Library Logo Contest
Del Norte County Library is looking for a local artist to assist with a new logo! If you or someone you know might be interested, please contact Beth Austen, library manager, at 707-464-9793 for more details. Deadline for submissions is Feb. 15.

Poetry Out Loud
DNACA, in conjunction with the Del Norte County Unified School District, presents the 3rd Annual Del Norte County Poetry Out Loud competition. Poetry Out Loud encourages high school students to learn about poetry through memorization, performance, and competition. Participants master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history. The County-wide competition will be held Friday February 5, at 11:30am, via ZOOM. Crescent City Art
Crescent City Art at 1228 2nd St., Crescent City, presents a children's card making class on February 10th, 11th, and 12th, for ages 5-14, from 12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. Each class is $3 and reservations are required. Classes are limited to 5 children, and all must wear a mask. Member art exhibits include Susan Humphry at the Del Norte County Library, Catherine Balck at the Wild Rivers Foundation offices, and an exhibit of various artists at the Sutter Coast Hospital Infusion Center and in the Main Hall at Sutter Coast Hospital. Crescent City Art is open to the public Thursday - Saturday from Noon - 5 p.m. For information call 707-460-1414.

“Colorful Critters of Del Norte County”
Start the New Year with a new hobby - coloring with pens or pencils. The coloring book “Colorful Critters of Del Norte County” is made for meditative coloring and stress reduction for adults, with hand drawn illustrations by local artist Rosemary Garcia, highlighting the “wild side” of Del Norte County with colorful critters. The book includes captions in English, Tolowa, and Yurok, and at the end of the book interesting facts about each of the 17 featured animals are included, which also makes it a wonderful home art and learning project for children! “Colorful Critters of Del Norte County” is available at Del Norte Office Supply at 240 I St. at the Requa Inn, 451 Requa Rd, Klamath, and at Wright’s Custom Framing in Brookings. Coast Redwoods Art Association
Coast Redwoods Art Association, Crescent Harbor Art Gallery’s February Artist of the Month is digital artist David Saile. Each of David's works represents a meticulously crafted virtual world, inviting one to step in and explore. Additional new art is also on display in the Gallery. The Gallery is located at 140 Marine Way in Crescent City, and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Face coverings are required. For more information call 707-464-9133.

Brian Scott Gallery
Brian Scott Gallery, located at 515 Chetco Ave. in Brookings, features Artist of the Month Pete Chasar, who creates acrylic landscapes and abstract paintings representing nature, but reduced to simplified arrangements of color and elemental shapes. The Gallery also shows Chasar’s sculptural pieces of geometric shapes and forms. Manley Art Center and Gallery
Manley Art Center and Gallery is located at 433 Oak St. in Brookings. February’s Artist of the Month is the “modern” quilting group Mod Squad, with a selection of their projects from 2019 - 2020. Mod Squad continues to study interesting techniques and themes and meets at 10:00 am on the 2nd Friday each month at the Manley Classroom. The Gallery is open 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with COVID-19 related restrictions and protocols in place.
