(Update) Video: U.S. 101 At Last Chance Grade Still Closed As Slide Activity Continues

(Updated 4:38 p.m.: U.S. 101 at Last Chance Grade will not reopen today, Caltrans says).

Caltrans crews are still working to remove debris from U.S. 101 in the Last Chance Grade area south of Crescent City.

The department says there will be an update at about 9 a.m. Monday, but slide activity continues.

From a Facebook post Sunday:

UPDATE (2/21-11 a.m.) U.S. 101 remains closed at Last Chance Grade south of Crescent City due to landslide activity. The slide was very active yesterday and hampered clean up efforts.
Crews are working on removing the large volume of rocks and trees as new material is still coming down.
We will reassess at 4 p.m. today and provide a possible reopening time then. This is a very dynamic slide. The plan is subject to change and is dependent on no additional slide activity. Please check this page for real time updates.
