Motorists traveling inland from the Del Norte coast will have to detour around a closure on U.S. 199 starting Monday.

From a Caltrans District 1 Facebook post:

U.S. 199 CLOSURE STARTING DEC. 13: For inclement weather preparedness, U.S. 199 will be fully closed almost 3 miles from the 101 junction in Del Norte County from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays beginning Monday, December 13.

Travelers should use Route 197 as an alternate route. Residents needing to access Walker Road within the project area will be permitted safely through the closure.

We anticipate this work will be completed earlier in the week beginning Monday, December 20. Thank you for adapting to this plan as we prepare for upcoming storms.
