Lilian and Cooper Fahning brought their grandparents along on their quest to win the Hometown Hero Scavenger Hunt during the holiday, communicating them via walkie talkie.

The siblings, whose mom, Hilary, is one of the heroes to be featured, visited all 12 locations, according to the Crescent City-Del Norte County Chamber of Commerce.

Unable to put on a traditional parade, festival and fireworks display on the Fourth of July holiday, the chamber opted for a decorating contest and a scavenger hunt.

There were more than 50 entries in the decorating contest with the Del Norte Senior Center receiving the Best of Show award, according to the chamber.

Judges for the decorating contest were Melodee Mitchell, Alex Campbell and Larry Timbe.
