Oregon Woman Sustains Major Injuries After Vehicle Overturns, Strikes Tree on U.S. 199
A Williams, Oregon woman sustained major injuries after her 1998 Chevrolet Silverado left the embankment on U.S. 199 and collided with a tree on at about 5:20 p.m. Monday.
Forty-six year-old Kelley Irene Haynes was traveling southbound on U.S. 199 when her vehicle traveled off U.S. 199 near mile marker 1.45 and down the embankment. The Chevy overturned, struck a tree and Haynes was ejected from her vehicle, according to a California Highway Patrol news release. She was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the release.
Haynes suffered major chest and head trauma and was taken to Sutter Coast Hospital by Del Norte Ambulance and was flown to Mercy Medical Center in Redding, according to the CHP. Alcohol and drugs don’t appear to be a factor in the incident, though the CHP is still investigating, according to the news release.
The Crescent City Fire Protection District, Del Norte County Search and Rescue, Del Norte Ambulance, California Department of Fish and Wildlife and the U.S. National Park Service provided assistance on the scene, according to the release.
