CHP: Oregon Woman Ejected From Vehicle After Striking Tree on Highway 199, Suffers Major Injuries
California Highway Patrol press release:
On April 27, 2020, at approximately 5:20 p.m., Haynes was driving her 1998 Chevy Silverado southbound on US-199, at mile post marker 199 DN 1.45.
Haynes allowed the Chevy to travel off of the roadway in a westerly direction and down a steep descending embankment. The Chevy overturned colliding with a tree and Haynes was ejected from the Chevy.
Emergency personnel arrived on scene and began providing medical assistance to Haynes. Haynes suffered major injuries as a result of this crash.
Haynes was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital by Del Norte Ambulance and was later flown out to Mercy Medical Center in Redding.
Crescent City Fire Protection District, Del Norte County Search and Rescue, Del Norte Ambulance, California Department of Fish and Wildlife and U.S. National Park Service provided assistance on scene.
Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor at this time. This incident remains under investigation by the CHP Crescent City Area office.
