[UPDATE: EVERYTHING'S OK!] Unmanned Inflatable Boat Found Drifting Near Crescent City Prompts Coast Guard Search
UPDATE, 6:46 p.m.: Stand down! From Sector Humboldt Bay:
The Coast Guard ended its search for the owner of an unmanned, adrift vessel west of Crescent City after the owner contacted Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay watchstanders Thursday.
The owner has been located and reported no distress.
“We appreciate the owner of the boat coming forward and informing the Coast Guard,” said Lt. Cmdr. Gabriel Vigil, a Sector Humboldt Bay spokesperson.
Sector Humboldt Bay conducted a search for a potential person in the water after the fishing vessel Lori reported an unmanned Avon RAB 2.81 inflatable approximately seven miles off the coast of Crescent City.

MCKINLEYVILLE, Calif. – Thursday, October 3rd, Coast Guard Sector Humboldt Bay is searching for the owner of a small vessel found adrift 7 miles offshore west of Crescent City, CA late this morning.
The Fishing Vessel Lori, contacted Del Norte County emergency services after they located an unmanned Avon RAB 2.81 inflatable boat off the coast of Crescent City, approximately 7 miles west off the city harbor.
Without any amplifying information, the Coast Guard is conducting a search for possible persons in the water. Anyone with information of ownership of this vessel, or any vessels transiting the area, are asked to contact the CG at (707) 839- 6113.
