BROOKINGS-HARBOR WELCOMES NEW INTERIM SUPERINTENDENT
After a month of an interim superintendent search and sifting through 12 highly qualified candidates, the Brookings-Harbor School District Board of Directors has chosen Mr. Chris Eberhardt to be its interim superintendent. Mr. Eberhardt’s contract was approved at the August 21st board meeting.
Mr. Eberhardt brings with him a wealth of administrative experiences with over 31 years in a variety of educational roles. He has been the Student Engagement Specialist with Jefferson County School District in Littleton Colorado for the past year. Prior to that, he was a principal at two high schools in Colorado, from 2013-2018. From 2010-2013 he was an assistant high school principal and from 2000-2010 the Director of Alternative Education, both positions in Nebraska. Mr. Eberhardt’s undergraduate and graduate degrees came from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and Doane College respectively.
“We are very excited to welcome Mr. Eberhardt to our district as interim superintendent,” Board Chair Alan Nidiffer said. “Chris stood out in a field of highly qualified applicants for his passion for student-focused education and his wealth of leadership experience. He will be a great asset to our district and community.”
“I would also like to thank those involved in the hiring process for their invaluable input,” Nidiffer added.
A committee of 17 people, including school board members, district staff, teachers and community members participated in the search for an interim superintendent starting in early July.
Mr. Eberhardt will join Brookings-Harbor School District in time for the start of the 2019-20 school year and will be in attendance at the Back-to-School Community Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at the Brookings-Harbor High School Cafeteria. Eberhardt also hopes to visit every classroom in the first weeks of school.
“I am honored to be part of and to lead the Brookings-Harbor School District for the upcoming school year,” Eberhardt said. “Together we will work to further realize the district's mission to create a learning community where every student can succeed. I am also excited to get to know the Brookings community and the hopes and dreams of our students and their families and am confident we can accomplish many things during my tenure as the interim Superintendent.”
