Active Slide Prompts Klamath Beach Road Closure

###

Del Norte County's sheriff is urging Klamath Beach Road residents to reach out if they need help.

Sheriff Garrett Scott said the Del Norte Office of Emergency Services is coordinating with his office, CalFire, the Klamath Fire Protection District to ensure emergency vehicles have access following a landslide that's still active.

"Most people can get out, but it is a really rough road going out the south end," Scott said of the loop at the southern border of Del Norte County. "We want them to know we are working on the ability of emergency services to still get to them if needed."

Scott said it might take the Del Norte County Roads Division through the weekend or even by Monday or Teusday to clear the debris off the road.

From Del Norte County Roads:

W. Klamath Beach Road between Klamath Dump Road and Alder Camp Road is closed due to a hillside slide.  As the slide is still active, County staff will be evaluating it over the next two days to determine when debris removal may safely occur and the road re-opened.  County OES staff is coordinating the effort to address individuals stranded on the west side of the Klamath Beach Road.

If you have any questions you may contact the Community Development Department at 464-7229 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
