A middle-age Crescent City man is recovering at home after testing positive for COVID-19, the Del Norte Office of Emergency Services reported Sunday.

Local public health officials are trying to determine how the patient contracted the virus, said Del Norte County Sheriff’s Cmdr. Bill Steven, public information officer for Del Norte OES. The person’s employer is aware of the positive test result, Steven said.

The patient’s contacts have also been notified of their status and are self-quarantining at home, according to a Del Norte County Public Health Facebook post.

Overall, a total of 314 tests have been administered in Del Norte County. Two patients have recovered from COVID-19. Of the number of tests that have been administered, 300 tests have returned negative and 11 are still pending, according to Public Health.

On Wednesday, Del Norte Public Health Officer Dr. Warren Rehwaldt is expected to participate in a telephone town hall meeting Wednesday hosted by State Sen. Mike McGuire.

McGuire’s telephone town hall will also include Humboldt and Trinity County public health officers as well as an infection disease expert from the University of California.
