The weather is causing a real mess out there.

About 3,500 of customers lost power between Brookings and Gold Beach this afternoon due to a downed power line at Nesika Beach.

Now folks in Crescent City are reporting sporadic outages.

One outage cut power to the Best Western Inn at Highway 101 and Thompson Street at about 4:30 p.m., causing two people to become trapped inside the inn's elevator for about an hour.

The Outpost's Jessica Cejnar reports from the scene that Crescent City Fire and Rescue responded and were able to free the trapped elevator passengers at about 5:30 p.m. using a hydraulic rescue tool to cut the door open.

Let us know if you're experiencing any outages in your area.
