(UPDATE) Tree On Transmission Line Cuts Power To 2400 Customers

Outage map provided by Pacific Power.

A tree fallen onto a Pacific Power transmission line is the culprit for a power outage that affected roughly 2,400 people Thursday afternoon.

As of about 6 p.m., utility spokesman Tom Gaunt told the Outpost that power had been restored to all but about 276 customers. The outage started at 4:12 p.m. around the Lake Earl Drive and Redwood area, he told the Outpost.

The outage affected customers as far south as Klamath and as far north as the Smith River area, according to Pacific Power's website. However, though there was a brief electricity surge, electricity stayed on for many places in Crescent City proper.
