DNACA Seeks Applicants For California Creative Corps Grant Panel

From the Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness:

January 27, 2023, Crescent City, CA - Del Norte Association for Cultural Awareness (DNACA) is seeking panelists to review local applications to the Upstate California Creative Corps (UCCC). The UCCC will employ artists to create awareness around areas such as public health, water and energy conservation, climate mitigation, emergency preparedness, relief, and recovery, civic engagement, and social justice.

Says DNACA Executive Director Stephanie La Torre, “$3.38m will be re-granted to artists, and arts and social service organizations, as well as units of government, who will employ artists across 19 counties in Northern California. We want to be sure we build a local review panel here in Del Norte that is diverse and knowledgeable, to support both fair process and an inclusive pool of grantees.”

DNACA believes that Del Norte’s people are our most treasured resource. A diverse panel pool ensures the integrity of the grant review process for all applicants, representative of the county’s demographics, eclectic geography, and abundance of organizations, perspectives, and knowledge.

Panelists must meet the following criteria:
Panelists must be Del Norte county residents;
Panelists must be able to assess the strengths and weaknesses of multiple applications based on the Upstate California Creative Corps published program goals and review criteria;
Panelists must have the ability to take part in three (3) mandatory virtual group meetings and 10-12 hours reviewing grants, taking notes, and attending meetings and orientations over a six to eight-week period.

Panelists selected to serve the Upstate California Creative Corps will be reviewing only Del Norte county applications. “We will contact panelist applicants in mid-February through early March, 2023. We hope for a strong and diverse applicant pool,” says La Torre.

Each volunteer panelist will receive a modest honorarium of $150. All reviews and meetings may take place in-person and/or remotely. More information about reviewing grants will be provided at the appropriate time.

Community members who are interested in applying should visit dnaca.net/upstate-ca-creative-corps, where the application link is at the bottom of the page. Once the online form is completed, applicants will receive an automated message confirming their submission. Says La Torre, “We'll then follow up with panel applicants on an individual basis as we begin putting the review panel together.”
